Summer Academic Enrichment Program

Science Exploration

Course/Material Fee: $35.00

Description: Science Exploration is an exciting four-week course that introduces students to core scientific disciplines through hands-on activities, group challenges, and real-world problem-solving. Each week focuses on a different area of science:

  • Week 1: Life Science – Students investigate the living world with a biochemical lens, exploring how cells and organisms maintain internal balance (homeostasis) and interact within ecosystems. Activities highlight molecular processes like photosynthesis, respiration, and nutrient cycling as foundations of life and ecological stability.
Week 2: Chemistry – Students delve into the chemistry of life, focusing on molecular structure, chemical reactions, and dynamic equilibrium. Through hands-on experiments, they explore how matter transforms, emphasizing reactions central to biological and environmental processes.
Week 3: Physical Science – Students explore the forces and energy that shape the physical world, including motion, magnetism, and simple machines.
Week 4: Environmental Science – Students apply concepts from previous weeks to examine Earth's systems and sustainability. They investigate human impacts on biochemical and ecological equilibrium, using simulations and design challenges to propose science-based solutions for a more sustainable future.

Throughout the course, students will work collaboratively to solve scientific problems, design and test models, and apply what they’ve learned in creative, practical ways. This class encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and teamwork while reinforcing foundational science concepts.
