STEM Teaching Fellowship
The STEM Pedagogy Fellowship Program at Â鶹AV is designed to train graduate students in STEM disciplines in evidence-based, modern teaching practices. The goal is to enhance student learning and reduce equity gaps in core STEM courses.
Led by Dr. Casey terHorst and supported by a diverse group of faculty and staff, the program begins with a half-day in-person bootcamp before the start of the fall semester and continues with regular sessions throughout the term. Each session will feature active learning demonstrations, hands-on activities, and strategies for creating inclusive and equitable classrooms.
- The application will require a brief statement (100–200 words) describing how you would benefit from the program.
- Participants are expected to attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a certificate and a fellowship award.
Graduate students who will be teaching (as a TA, GA, PLF, or SI) during the Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 semesters are eligible to participate. The program is limited to 40 participants, with preference given to first-year graduate students and based on the order in which applications are received.
The fellowship will entail 12 hours of training (date below):
