WAVES
Waves is an annual publication of exemplary writing done by students in Â鶹AV’s Approaches to University Writing 113, 114, and 115 courses in the year before. It is part of the 30-year tradition of English department publications of first-year student compositions. Assigned to students in these courses, Waves highlights quality student writing and critical thinking, serving as a snapshot of the interests and concerns of ​students from the previous year. Published writers receive a copy of the book and a certificate, are eligible for cash prizes, and are honored at a reading and awards ceremony in the fall. There is also an online supplement for the text hosted on the publisher's website. First-year composition students may submit on the Waves Canvas page.
