Faculty Research Project Development Initiative

Program Overview

The Faculty Research Project Development Initiative (FRPDI) is a new campus-wide program designed to empower Â鶹AV faculty launching new research, scholarly, or creative projects. Grounded in our commitment to academic excellence and innovation, the FRPDI provides support in the form of reassigned time and project development funds to help faculty build the foundation for competitive external grant applications, publications, performances, exhibitions, or other scholarly contributions.

Program Goals

The FRPDI is designed to:

  • Support the launch of new or significantly revised lines of inquiry or creative activity
  • Provide time and resources to develop competitive research or creative project proposals
  • Increase faculty competitiveness for external funding, publication, and recognition
  • Enhance student involvement in research, scholarship, and creative activity
  • Promote work that contributes to positive societal impact and aligns with institutional goals and priorities

Award Details

Award Period: Spring 2026 through Spring 2027

Reassigned Time: One to six (1-6) units of reassigned time

Project Development Funds: Up to $5,000 in direct project development support

Applications must be submitted through the website. Sign in using your Â鶹AV credentials (User ID and password) to access the submission portal. A complete application will include the following documents:

  • Application form on InfoReady (completed at submission)
  • Project Narrative (2-page maximum)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) (up to 5 pages per PI/Co-PI)
  • Budget (.xlsx) and Budget Justification (.docx)

Timeline

Submission Deadline: 5:00 PM on October 10, 2025

Proposal Review Period: October - November 2025

Award Notification: December 10, 2025

Reassigned Time: Spring 2026, Fall 2026, and/or Spring 2027 (pending departmental approval)

Project Completion: All reassigned time and project development funds must be expended by May 28, 2027. Awardees must submit a final report by June 30, 2027, and present their work at a faculty forum (date TBD).
